In kerala tradition we have so many rituals to be followed for beauty and health. once in a while at least, even from your busy schedule, its worth spending some time for pampering your body with these ayurvedic treasures which is soothing to the soul too. you can create your own spa at home, Being a Hata Yoga practitioner, I do believe that body should be healthy and and vibrant even for attaining your spiritual goal.
I strongly recommend natural products rather than using chemicals always labelled as cosmetics.
If you are in kerala, its easier to follow these tips while bathing,
Our grandmas age old recipes are treasures too to pass it on to next generation kids.
Before taking a bath its always a nice idea to massage your body and hair with suitable natural oil.
I know somebody who use coconut oil for massaging her hair since childhood and even in her 70's she has hardly any grey hair, Myself and my daughter use an oil which is a mix of coconut oil badam oil and castor oil as suggested by my aunt. it does help to grow thick and black hair. Take all these 3 oils in equal proportion and mix it. keep it in a glass bottle, Massage your hair with this oil and leave it like that at least for one hour and take bath. you can see good results after a prolonged use of this oil. Aloe vera oil is also good for hair which I have posted earlier as a separate post,
For a glowing face, use kunkumadi Tailam from Kottakkal. One of the best and its a traditional secret of mukhakanti of kerala women. Apply the same before going to bed as night cream.
Use Nalpamaradi thailam for your body, Regular use of these oils make a difference,
Also use incha and peechi (dried ridge gourd) as scrubbers. They are natural. Pattu incha we take from the soft natural fibre is also used for babies soft skin as natural scrubber . For babies skin virigin coconut oil is being used. we call it thenga ventha velichenna . i will post and share the method as a separate post when i get time. Throw away plastic loofahs, Instead of chemical filled soaps either use cheru payar podi or besan flour to remove the excess oil.
We dont have to use shampoo full of chemicals all the time. Nature has kept some gifts as well for our beauty and health. Chembarathi thali is the best alternative, Its made out of red hibiscus flower and leaves, you can also use vellila instead of hibiscus, Squeeze hibiscus leaves and flowers ( inch also can use ) which are dipped in one or two glasses of water (or kanjivellam) with your hands till you get a green colored slippery liquid. strain it. Apply it on your hair while washing your hair, Healthy silky shiny hair will be the result. In addition to it, it provides a refreshing coolness to your head. so that you may sleep well too.
Make a pste of kasthoori manjal powder, besan flour and milk. apply on your face regularly. this will enhance the glow,
We have a treasure from our Nature. Take it out once in a while and follow it and share too among others. Sharing is caring. Also have a positive outlook towards life. Be happy make others also happy so that you will be beautiful inside and outside,
We have to go back to our roots and follow our age old traditions which are good instead of throwing it out, kindly adapt it, If we observe we can make out our ancestors were more healthy active and vibrant than us,
